This workshop is designed to provide children with the tools to express themselves, amplify their stories, and develop a deeper understanding of social issues that impact their world. Through poetry, we’ll help children explore themes of empowerment, cultural pride, and social justice, all while encouraging creative thinking and personal expression.

What to Expect:

  • Poetry Activities: Fun and engaging exercises designed to help children create their own poems, using words and rhythms to express their unique perspectives.
  • Cultural Exploration: An opportunity to reflect on cultural identity and heritage through the art of poetry, while celebrating the richness of diverse communities.
  • Empowerment Through Art: Encouraging children to see the power of their voice and the impact of storytelling.
  • Community Connections: A space where children can connect with others, share their creative work, and feel a sense of pride in their heritage.

About Kamitan Arts CIC:

Kamitan Arts CIC is a Performing Arts and Heritage Non-Profit Community Company, whose presence in the RBKC community has been evident for over 15 years.

Kamitan Arts (KA) brings together inter-generational communities from disadvantaged and challenging backgrounds, amplifying marginalised voices through the power of bi-lingual poetry, harnessing the arts as a powerful vehicle for grassroots-driven social change. Our objectives are to explore cultural identity and the heritage of our diverse community, as well as highlighting injustices and empowering women. We do this by promoting community cohesion and understanding of humanitarian issues through the performing arts. This includes workshops and productions in rap-poetry, dance, drama, music, art and film. KA collaborates with a wide network of artists and youth practitioners from Kensington and Chelsea and beyond. Our leadership team is rooted in the very community we serve, ensuring strong connections with both the local community and the wider voluntary and secular sectors.
