Marilyn Fontaine – Painting Goddesses & Magazine Collages
Marilyn is a Holistic and Creative coach, Artist and workshop leader based in London UK.
Marilyn has 15 years experience in the field of personal development and she has been involved with raising awareness of lifestyle changes, and health for women across London.
Formally trained in Art and Fashion Design, after which she entered the commercial fashion industry, this unfortunately resulted in her experiencing anxiety and panic attacks. Deciding to leave this lifestyle behind, she researched health, spirituality and the mind, she moved into the Holistic healing field and was able to find her Klan of Healers and Creatives that helped her see the Swan masquerading as an Ugly duckling.
Around 2006 MJ Fontaine started to paint again after a long overdue calling this was influenced by the Goddesses and the Taoist Jade Circle. “Art called me home and I started to reincorporate this into my work. Art is my life line and my prayer and alter of life. Art is the tool that I use to create a bridge or messages between Spirit and Matter and it is through this I feel connected to myself and the world.”
MJ Fontaine has collaborated with Kamitan Arts on our ‘Lyrikal Art’ and ‘Poetic Art’ multi-disciplinary projects.

Andrew Cooper makes wood, carvings, animated films, drawings, painted banners, and is always exploring different ways to work with people using art. Responding to experience through making things is a very ordinary thing, just like having a cup of tea and a biscuit, yet many of us don’t value what we make and get discouraged so we have to change this because art making belongs to everybody. Founder/Creative Art Director of the Portman Gallery for a decade, an innovative community art gallery within Morpeth School, East London, where he also has been teaching for many years. Andrew is an art activist contributor to many art displays and installations about social housing and social justice, including the Grenfell Wall of Truth and also contributing to Kamitan Arts’ “Poetry 4 Grenfell” book; he has also been art tutor with our previous multi-disciplinary projects ‘Poetic Art’ and ‘Lyrical Art’. The “Poetry 4 Grenfell – Voices from da Grove & Latimer” …book is a tribute to all affected by the fire and a result of the year-long workshops that Kamitan Arts had been running as an immediate response to the tragedy. Princess Emmanuelle, lifelong resident of Ladbroke Grove, founder of Kamitan Arts CIC, international bi-lingual Rap-Poetess and cross-disciplinary arts facilitator that uses the Performing Arts to share and explore topics of injustice and cultural identity to bring about social change, put a call out at the end of June for contributions to this heart-felt multilingual compilation. The collection of poems for the book and the initial workshops in June 2017, was what inspired the filming of the ‘Poetry 4 Grenfell’ Golden Trellick Heart award-winning ‘Best Art Film’ (Portobello Film Festival 2017) that our young Igor Barcelos had filmed, with much help from the community to edit, and directed by Emmanuelle Marcel ‘Ja’bbour. The “Poetry 4 Grenfell” multi-lingual book includes the voices of local residents, the bereaved, the survivors and the empathetic wider community, from the ages of 3 – 77. It has been a creative means to amplify the voices and messages of our traumatised community that has usually been manipulated or misrepresented by the media. The Second Edition more Family Friendly version is now available!Come in take a look into our World, feel, watch and listen to the legacy that has been created by and for our ‘come-unity’. Allow yourself to draw upon the “Poetry 4 Grenfell” book for inspiration as you witness the inscribed written words and images; immortalising our memories through the written and oral testimonies, for indeed these dear souls will never be forgotten…We have just released our second edition, which is more family friendly and is a larger 220 page full colour edition! All revenue after printing and publishing costs are deducted goes towards printing more copies, giving free copies to Grenfell survivors and their immediate families, and sustaining free creative projects in our community post-Grenfell!
